We're glad you've stopped by for a visit, and we invite you to join us in learning about our water resources and how they are used.
The Olympic Water Users Association (OWUA) represents the needs and concerns of water right holders, exempt well owners, and other interested Washingtonians in discussions about water resource policies with government agencies and other non-governmental organizations. Recognizing that people have lived in the diverse landscapes of the Olympic Peninsula and the other regions of the Pacific Northwest for thousands of years, we seek to develop ever-improving methods of living and working in harmony with our natural surroundings.
The Olympic Peninsula is home to tens of thousands of people, as well as several endangered and threatened fish and other wildlife species through various stages of their lives. We are very fortunate in having abundant quantities of very high quality water supporting the needs of ourselves and the natural world around us. As the human population increases within the limits set by state, county, and municipal growth policies, we have to manage our water resources so that there is a viable balance between meeting the needs of people and those of wildlife and their habitats.
Water policy is evolving, and mistakes can be made when local stakeholder knowledge is not at the table where policies are developed. OWUA brings that local knowledge and experience to the process.
